Studies for a Portrait at Oval House

Following a sell-out run at The White Bear Pub Theatre, the critically-acclaimed Studies For A Portrait transfers to Oval House Theatre for four weeks.

Inspired by the true-life relationships of some of the 20th century's most iconic artists, Studies For A Portrait follows the last days of Julian Barker, an internationally-acclaimed American painter whose fame ranks alongside that of Andy Warhol and Francis Bacon.

Lottery Funded

Given just months to live, Julian retreats to his East Hamptons beach house to prepare for death, but his peace is shattered as the three men in his life, past and present, vie for his legacy, and for his love.

Studies For A Portrait is a moving, disturbing reflection on the power of modern art that raises the question of just how should the great artists' muses be recognised.
